Frequently Asked Questions
Need support? Find quick technical explanations on Bluetooth setup, capacity checks, and safety rules.
Bluetooth & Connection Setup
First, ensure your Android smartphone has Bluetooth and Location services turned on (required for Bluetooth scanning on Android). Launch the Bat-BMS app, tap on the BLE scan option, and select your battery monitor ID. The default pairing passcode is usually 123456 or 000000.
In Android 8.0 up to Android 12, Google categorizes BLE scanning under Location permissions since nearby Bluetooth beacons can theoretically be used to estimate device location. Bat-BMS does not collect or transmit your GPS coordinates.
Battery Performance & Diagnostics
Yes, Bat-BMS supports multi-device caching. You can switch between active Bluetooth terminals inside the device selection screen to track different camper, marine, or solar backup setups.
This state occurs if individual cell voltages inside your battery bank deviate too far from each other (e.g., > 30mV difference). Enabling cell balancing via your hardware controller interface or letting the battery charge slowly to 100% can re-align cell capacities.
Security & Safety
Yes. The Bat-BMS installation package hosted on our portal has been audited against malware and verified to match original compiler signatures. You can check the SHA-256 signature on the download screen before installing.
